Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Truth
I'm suprised on how easy it is to buy a weapon in the United States. The part the shocked me the most is when he goes to a Michigan bank, which is as well a licensed weapon dealer, where he gets a free gun for putting some money into a Certificate of Deposit. Or when he takes the two kids who survived the shooting in Columbine to make a point at k-mart.
This documentary shows more than just how easy it is to own firearms. It shows that we are in a country full of violence. That there are other country out there like Canada, that also have a lot of families that own guns, but has less violence than we do.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A movie that makes you think
I saw this movie for the second time in my college English class. But for some reason, I was more interested and drawn to it the second time around. While I was watching the film, I thought that it was very interesting and brought up a lot of real, important issues that we Americans encounter in our everyday lives. It was sad, but yet amusing how he convinced Walmart headquarters to ban the sales of gun ammunition in stores. It was impressive how he tried to find every possible reason as to why America has such a high murder rate. Race, poverty, violence in music and video games, violence in our history, and even the growth and production of hand guns. None of these could lead to the reason behind his questioning. What I found most interesting about this film was when he went to Canada. He walked up to a few houses and saw how the natives there do not lock their doors. He was also informed that there was only one murder in the last three years in Canada. Coincidentally, I ran into an acquaintance that used to work in the forensic labs for the Miami Dade Police Department a couple of days after viewing the film. He expressed how he has visited some of the forensic labs in Canada. I was not given much information, but was led to believe that they may not be reporting all of these murders in Canada... there's something to think about. This only made me think more and more about the film, and left me pondering as to why it is that we Americans kill each other. There is still quite a bit left un-answered. I guess I would say that I have mixed reviews about this film. I think that the idea behind the film was a good one, but not sure as to whether or not the information provided was all true.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - If you are an Apathetic American, this has Marilyn Manson as well
Don't care, because you are an Apathetic (typical) American? Not to worry, Marilyn Manson fans can enjoy this documentary, as well as the geeks who care about Constitutions and such.

Michael Moore is worth checking out. As the years pass, I am a bit skeptical of some of his work, but Bowling for Columbine is very interesting.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Bang Bang America
I found the documentary to be extremely informative and appealing to people my age. I thought Michael Moore did a great job interviewing the different kind of people in these towns and showing how common it is for people to own not only one gun, but multiple per household. I don't think that owning a gun is an American duty, as this one guy says in the film. He believes that if you do not own a gun to protect your family you are not an American. I believe that this extremism is what ends up being the major contributing cause for accidental shootings in the home.
People need to relax and stop shooting eachother. Just because someone walks into your front porch, theres no need to shoot them..
