Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Happy Feet Score!
This is just the soundtrack of the Movie "Happy Feet" except without words. If you don't already know, Score music is pretty much instrumental stuff only. The music is composed of different scenes in the movie that you would hear in the backround of most of the movie. In combination with the "Happy Feet (Music from the Motion Picture)" soundtrack, you virtually have the whole movie playing for you, just without the voices. The first track on this CD is at the part with all the Emperor Penguins chanting and it sounds kind of like a Church Choir. (or as some people put it, a bunch of Russian Sailors on a ship). Also, consider the fact that you are getting a good deal with this CD. 29 tracks that last about 2-4 minutes long.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Wonderfull, but not enough tap dancing
I truly enjoyed the movie and was looking forward to this soundtrack. The choral pieces swept me off my feet ("The Huddle", "Tap versus Chant", ...)Other pieces, like "Wives Ho!" are simply cute, as you can just imagine little Mumble stumbling around. But the main reason I wanted this soundtrack, was the tap dancing. That was what made the music unique to me. There is only one track (Tap versus Chant) that actually has tap dancing in it. It is one of the best tracks on the album. I wish there were more like that one.
But overall I'm very happy with this cd and I've listened to it quite often already. If you remembered the music in the film and you loved it, this cd is for you. You might also consider the other Happy Feet album which has the original songs (and some songs inspired by the movie, but those are less interesting in my opinion). These two albums truly complement each other.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Big disappointment
I was very disappointed with this cd. There were only a couple of songs that were slightly worth listening to, otherwise it was a big dud. I have also bought the actual soundtrack to the movie, which was also a disappointment but I liked it over this cd.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - John Powell's Score Is Breathtaking & Epic, It Will Have Your Hairs Stand On The Back Of Your Neck
John Powell is a composer whose name has become synonimous with animation. 2006 was a huge year for Powell with his work on Ice Age: The Meltdown, United 93, X-Men: The Last Stand, and of course Happy Feet. Powell is unique when compared to all the other composers from the school of Hans Zimmer. He is really the only one that has gone to utilize the orchestra the way he does. Harry Gregson-Williams has showed his orchestral side but he will always be known for his brilliant electronic style.

Happy Feet is a mammoth of a score, perfectly capturing the setting and tone of the film. Powell spent 4 years working on this film from scoring to arranging the songs for this musically driven animation wonder. The score is a wonderous masterpiece, it's the most epic I've heard from Powell. The first track is so powerful it brought tears to my eyes and had my hairs standing on end. Using a full male chorus he ... Read More
