- Along Came A CLassic !!!
This is the best collection of songs / stories Alice has released since "Brutal Planet"....and the most fully realised "concept" since "From The Inside". There are hints of Alice's back catalogue: The opening riff of "Im Hungry" is reminiscent of "Is It My Body" while "I Know Where You Live" would sit nicely on "Flush The Fashion" or "Special Forces". And of course, our favourite, all time anti-hero Steven makes a welcome (to my nightmare) return. Alice's voice is razor sharp and his lyrics, typically tongue in cheek / Hammer Horror style are among the best he's written. "You look like you'd fit in the trunk of my car" from "The One That Got Away" is an instant "Cooper Classick". The band / assembled musicians are right on the money (cant wait to hear this material live and loud !!).And...here..my prize...the artwork. Absolutely gorgeous !!! Especially on the vinyl version. - Misses Bob Ezrin's Touch
Don't get me wrong, this is a good Alice Cooper album and the packaging by Piggy D is top notch on the LP. I even got a little weak in the knees when I saw the silk colored wax (man I miss artwork like this).

Lyrically, it is all Alice. If not even more twisted and mean than ever before. Musically, it sounds like a Hampton and Saber album (except for Vengence - easily the best track). It doesn't sound like how Bob Ezrin would have left things, and this is basically what keeps it from being an awesome record.

Remember how when Jeff Lynne was producing Roy Orbison, Jeff Harrison, Tom Petty, everybody sounded like an ELO record? Not the marks of a good producer. Same thing here. This disk had the potential to be a monster smash, but the production killed it.

- Loved the album in general, but the LP is something a little extra
It was slightly unfortunate about the delay on this one. It was originally supposed to be put out on July 29th, but was set back about seven days. Well worth the wait though! My opinion about the music is the same as the CD version - all I don't care for as much is the title track and certain portions of "I Know Where You Live" and "Catch Me If You Can." But that only has to do with preferences of style.

Otherwise... this is a beautifully made LP record! It has a gatefold cover with different art than the front of the cd version, and the inside photos are essentially the same but in blocks (made to look like posted photos) on top of a metal chest-looking-background with hinges. The vinyl is a transparent white color, like a SPIDERWEB :), and comes inside of a sleeve where the lyrics are printed.

- Disturbingly Good
Alice is back with more malevolence...his latest offering highlights the dark details of serial killer "Steven," to whom we were first introduced on 1975's "Welcome to My Nightmare" album. The lyrics are disturbing in several places. Some samples: "You look like you'd fit in the trunk of my car," from "The One That Got Away," or "When you're at work, I'm alone, in your room, on your bed, and you'll never know," from "I Know Where You Live." Spoiler alert: Steven likes to remove the legs of his victims and wrap their bodies in silk like a spider.

Yes, it is dark stuff. However, any longtime Cooper fan has some idea what to expect from the man who is menacing onstage, but a total gentleman on the golf course. The songs are well-constructed, and Alice's voice is as strong as ever. I found the mix on the CD to be a bit tinny to my ears, but it was nothing that a little extra bass didn't cure.
