Amazon.com Product Description: Let your child experience the tranquility of sleeping under a bed of stars every night with the clever Twilight Ladybug, the latest friend in Cloud b’s line of sleep companions. Fussy babies, darkness-fearing toddlers, and even insomniac adults will experience peacefulness and delight as this friendly plush ladybug, positioned on the floor in the center of a room, projects a starry night sky onto ceiling and walls from the workings under her plastic wings.
The Twilight Ladybug projects eight constellations and offers a choice of three relaxing nightlight colors.
|
Pressing the button on the ladybug’s wings illuminates the stars and keeps them glowing for 45 minutes -- just enough time for drifting off to sleep -- before automatically shutting off to preserve battery life. The Twilight Ladybug offers a choice of three soothing colors in hues that are known for their ability to encourage relaxation: ruby red promotes warmth; sapphire blue for peace and sleep; and emerald green, known for harmony and renewal. Of the three, there is certain to be one that complements the color scheme of baby’s room. From where she is stationed, the ladybug emits a warm glow in the color of choice, doubling as a comforting nightlight.
 | | The adorable ladybug comes with a story book and constellation guide. | In addition to its calming effect, Twilight Ladybug also features an educational component. Among the clusters of stars sprinkled across the ceiling are eight recognizable constellations. The accompanying guide tells the warm-hearted story about how Twilight Ladybug got separated from her father and used the constellations to find her way home, which is a sweet way to introduce the constellations and encourage kids to learn their locations. An included booklet maps out which area of Twilight Ladybug’s shell the constellations are projected from, so stargazers will know where to look for them on the ceiling. The booklet also gives a brief explanation of each constellation and its most notable features.
In the center of the sky is Orion the hunter, most easily recognizable by the three stars that make up his belt. At the 11:00 position, both Draco the dragon and The Little Dipper can be spotted. The Little Dipper is more visible because the North Star, Polaris, highlights the end of its handle. The North Star used to be positioned within Draco but movement in the skies shifted it over to The Little Dipper over time. In the upper right side of the sky (and the ladybug’s wings), is Canis Major (The Greater Dog), which hosts the brightest star in the sky, Sirius, at a point in the dog’s neck. Right next to Canis Major is Cepheus, a little house with a pointed roof. In the lower right quadrant of the sky, Pegasus -- the winged horse -- is visible. He is easiest to find by locating the square that makes up the center of his body first. On the south side of the sky (between 6 and 7:00), viewers can see two stick figure people. These are Gemini, the twins. And, finally, the best known constellation -- The Big Dipper -- can be found at 9:00. This is really two constellations in one as The Big Dipper makes up the tail end of the constellation Ursa Major, the Big Bear.
A unique product, the Twilight Ladybug makes a thoughtful and creative baby gift to help infants or overtired moms grab a few hours of sleep. At only 14 inches long and 5 inches high, this interactive nightlight puts a lot of punch in a small package and is surprisingly easy to work. Each ladybug comes with its own certificate of adoption and runs on three AAA batteries, which are included.

Rating: - Wonderful little lady
We already had the twilight turtle for my son and my daughter wanted her own- so we got her the ladybug. She loves it! I love the starry ceiling effect, but always hated those glow-in-the-dark star stickers, so this really does the trick. Very pretty and soothing- my kids love to change the colors- and my son thinks it's great when he wants to pretend he's camping. A great gift for infants, but my kids have continued to use for years beyond (my oldest is 5 and still uses this!). In fact, I wouldn't mind one for myself. :)
I haven't had any battery problems with either of ours- maybe have had to replace twice a year- but I don't use rechargeable, just regular alkaline AAA's.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this little lady- as well as her counterpart, the twilight turtle.

I haven't given this to my Grandson as yet but I've opened it and checked it out and I'm sure it'll be a hit. I'm looking forward to Christmas to give it and can't wait. I had fun myself and set it up in my own room... It'll be fun to see his face when he gets to use it... I know he'll love it as I did.

Rating: - Great relaxing toy!
The PROS: It is lightweight enough so my baby (5 months) can play with it. I give it to my baby in the morning as he wakes up & this keeps him busy for a few more minutes while I get a little more sleep. :) He loves touching the light (shell), watching the constellations around his crib, & changing the colors on the turtle. I also use it at night as a cue for bedtime & I notice it settles him down after a long busy day. He loves looking at the room filled with stars. I keep it on & enjoy it myself while I breastfeed him before bedtime. The timer option is also great.
The CONS: You can't really see the brown constellation, only the blue & the green.
Rating: - A Life Saver...or at least a sleep saver!!!!!
My 4yr old and 2yr old were both afraid of the dark and going to sleep in their rooms. I saw this product and gave it a try. It has been wonderful. They have not fought me once about going to bed. They love turning on their ladybugs and finding the moon and counting stars. The stars look great on the ceiling and it really does put the girls to sleep.
