Product Description:
BOSTON LEGAL a wry courtroom television show that walks the line between drama and comedy is the creation of perennial hit-maker David E. Kelly (ALLY MCBEAL PICKET FENCES). BOSTON LEGAL revolves around the Boston litigation law firm of Crane Poole & Schmidt in particular two eccentric and flawed attorneys Alan Shore and Denny Crane. Shore an unscrupulous and wily ambulance chaser and womanizer (played with sly charm by James Spader) finds an uneasy alliance with Crane a bombastic self-aggrandizing and occasionally batty elder lawyer (William Shatner in an Emmy-winning performance). Despite their ethical and emotional deficiencies Shore and Crane usually find themselves fighting on the right side as they take up cases that no one else is willing to touch. This collection gathers every episode from the show's third season.System Requirements:TRT: 1056 mins. In year 3, Boston Legal continues to toggle with ease between comedy and pathos. The season begins on a bittersweet note as Denise (Julie Bowen) gets engaged to the terminally ill Daniel (Michael J. Fox), who disappears to try an experimental treatment. Enter two new litigators, smart-talking associate Claire Sims (Constance Zimmer) and cocky partner Jeffrey Coho (Craig Bierko). Once Daniel exits the picture, Jeffrey and Brad (Mark Valley) compete for Denise's affections. The firm soon welcomes a third new face: legal secretary Clarence (Gary Anthony Williams)--also known as Clarice, Clavant, and Oprah.

As before, cases vary from minor to major. Story arcs include the murder of a judge's wife (with Ashton Holmes as the suspect and Katey Sagal as his mother) and an outrageous peeping tom (David Dean Bottrell) with a jones for Shirley (Candice Bergen). Denny Crane (William Shatner), meanwhile, finds love with diminutive attorney Bethany (Meredith Eaton-Gilden)--and her mother, Bella (Delta Burke). And Alan (James Spader, who scored a second Emmy to add to the one he received for The Practice) helps former co-worker Jerry 'Hands' Espenson (Christian Clemenson) out of a few jams. By the end of the season, Jeffrey is gone, while Jerry returns to Crane, Poole & Schmidt.

Throughout the year, the firm tackles a variety of timely issues, ranging from religious freedom to immigration law. Reporter Gracie Jane (Jill Brennan), a Nancy Grace doppelgänger, also comes in for some ribbing. Aside from recurring characters, like Jane Lynch (as a sexual surrogate), the third season counts a few actors behind the camera, such as Eric Stoltz ('Dumping Bella') and Adam Arkin ('Nuts'), from David E. Kelley's Chicago Hope. The featurette Character Witness looks at the year's most colorful characters--turns out Spader and Clemenson are old friends--and Out of Order looks at the judges, notably Gail O'Grady, Howard Hesseman, and Shelley Berman. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - If You Typically DON'T Watch Legal Shows...
Boston Legal is a brilliant, amazing show. I had not watched it on tv and in fact originally ordered the DVD for John who is a Law and Order die-hard. Certainly, if you enjoy legal shows or are an attorney, you will like Boston Legal - but those of you who aren't particularly drawn to such shows will also love this show.

Boston Legal showcases typically 2 cases, as well as some inter-office drama, but the heart of this series is more about the friendship between William Shatner and James Spader. I never knew what great actors these two men were! James Spader had always been a "pretty boy" so that you couldn't really see past his looks, but he won an Emmy for this show. Likewise, Shatner absolutely SHINES in this drama.

One of the unique shows of Season 3 is Episode 18 where there are "flashbacks" of Shatner as a young man. To show this, they use a movie that he starred in with Ralph ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Boston Legal....the most superior show on TV
This show is without a doubt the best and most professionally written show on TV. I just discovered it last year, and have purchased and rented everything through Season 3...and am currently watching Season 5. I am dismayed that this is its last season!

The acting talent and most importantly, the writing talent, should be commended. I am certainly taken with the talent of James Spader, who in my estimation is most talented, and I look forward to his closing arguments each week. It will be a great loss to the viewing public to not experience this show after this season. I would be at the top of his fan club (but he is the age of my son!)...'nuff said.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very EntertaINING
as with season one and season two,, Boston Legal season three is just as entertaining. The casting for this series couldn't be better. I can't wait until season four comes out.
