Amazon.com:
Shakespearean comedy and American high school are a match made in heaven--or Hollywood, at any rate. Somehow the exaggerated emotions and budding hormones of adolescence are perfectly suited to Shakespeare's twisty plots, and She's the Man is a perfect example. Viola (Amanda Bynes, What a Girl Wants) is furious when she learns that her high school, Cornwall, has cut the girl's soccer team--so furious that she takes advantage of her twin brother Sebastian (James Kirk, Final Destination 2) skipping town for a few weeks to take his place at his school, Illyria, so she can join the soccer team there. But her disguise as her brother leads to complications when she falls in love with her soccer-playing roommate and the girl he's in love with falls in love with 'Sebastian'... Bynes may not be entirely persuasive as a high school boy, but she's got the charm and sprightliness to make the audience follow her anyway. The clever script walks a fine balance, treating the situation realistically enough to make Viola's efforts matter, but zipping along quickly enough that we don't worry too much about the details. As Duke and Olivia--the other two parts of the love triangle--Channing Tatum and Laura Ramsey combine sex appeal with engaging sweetness; the excellent supporting cast includes David Cross (Arrested Development), Julie Hagerty (Airplane!), and former British soccer star Vinnie Jones (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels). All in all, a delightful bit of fun. --Bret Fetzer

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Pretty good ;-P
To be honest, I only saw this movie because it was on TV. I had wanted to watch it earlier, but figured it would be a waste of time because I have seen these kind of gender reversal movies before. Yet I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually better than I thought and quite enjoyable.
Amanda Bynes was pretty good in this (except when she played the male role, she had this stupid Jack Black type voice going on that only he does well) as a really good soccer player who's school coach won't allow girls on his team. To proove how good she is at the sport, she plays the role of her brother (who's secretly headed off to London) and becomes roomates with Duke who she starts to fall for despite him falling for some girl who likes her/him.
Anyway, you have to at least give this a shot. It's more than I expected and I did find myself enjoying it and laughing through a lot of parts - there are some great ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Entertaining
Our 10 year old daughter watches this movie over and over. I have to admit I like it, too. Good for some laughs and some discussions about gender roles.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - She's the Man Vs. Just One of the Guys. And the Winner Is....
Recently in movies we've seen a string of "stealth remakes" in which filmmakers take the basic plot of a previous movie and, without attribution, use it for a new film. Thus 13 Going On 30 isn't REALLY a remake of Big, despite the fact they both deal with a barely pubescent kid wishing they were an adult, and magically having it happen. The Island isn't REALLY a remake of Parts: The Clonus Horror despite the fact they both deal with a secret facility producing clones as spare parts for the elite's surgical procedures, and what happens when two of the clones discover that fact. And She's the Man isn't REALLY a remake of Just One of the Guys despite the fact they both deal with a cute teenage girl disguising herself as a teenage boy to invade a school's all-male sports team.

Comparing the two movies, for me She's the Man works better than Just One of the Guys. For one thing, in the latter I was never really ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great movie...
I enjoyed the movie. It's kind of silly in some ways and it's just fun. A great movie to just sit back and relax with.
