Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A forgotten classic
Blondie is credited for having the first video-album with "Eat to the Beat," though that was made specifically for the home video market. A few years earlier, this television special was essentially the same thing -- a collection of music videos for every song on Cooper's "Welcome to My Nightmare" album (as well as an original video for his earlier hit "The Ballad of Dwight Fry") loosely tied together with skits featuring Cooper and Vincent Price as "the spirit of the nightmare." Shot on video and featuring players in costumes from the legendary 1975 tour, there's something about this film that's always reminded me of "The Muppet Show." Perhaps more than anything, it's the innocence that it had to have as a TV special.

Cooper gives a much better performance than he did in the filmed version of the Nightmare tour, and Price is delightfully hammy and sinister. The videos are all very dated now, but ... Read More
