Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Nostalgic terror
Five stars to nostalgia. Return of Count Yorga and The War of the Gargantuas were the stuff my childhood nightmares were made of. When I saw both films again I was again scared. Thanks to the amygdala and childhood memories, inner kid alive and well. In comparison, Count Yorga, Vampire, that I didn't see as a kid, was as the Return really is without the memories taking hold. A bad film. I wonder what the opinion of a fresh viewer would be. But memories are not objective. Hence the five stars.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Both Count Yorga films for a song!!
This is a great bargain and value to be able to get Robert Quarry's two best films on the same DVD. Although I am not a fan of the double-sided DVD's it is great to get both Count Yorga films on DVD. Strangely only the first film was released on DVD on it's own. "Return" has not been released on DVD except in this release. It is also cheaper to get this release than the original film's DVD release alone!! I personally find "Return" to be the better film, more assured, smoother, etc. Apparently the original film was to be a soft-core porn film but was changed considerably in order to get Robert Quarry to be in it. Even so, the first film is definitely more risque and has a very brief nude scene. Also, soft-core porn actress Marsha Jordan has a small role in the film. It to me was a bit of a diamond in the rough, mainly serving to introduce Count Yorga. Also, the original film's title, "The Loves of Count Iorga, Vampire" ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Value, Great Memories!
I really enjoyed this double feature. I remember watching these movies as a pre-teen. Although they can be campy with obvious low budget restraints, the storylines are well thought out and Robert Quarry's performances are priceless! I would recommend this DVD highly!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - "How do you feel about driving a wooden stake through someone's heart?"
Probably the most underrated vampire in cinema history, Count Yorga is a favorite horror character of mine. Robert Quarry is second only to Bela Lugosi in my book as far as vampire lords go, even beating out bonafide legend Christopher Lee whose Dracula performances are legendary. Yorga was originally spelled "Iorga" but was changed presumably because American studios give zero credence to the intelligence and literacy of horror and exploitation fans. Well screw you, too. Though both films were very obviously influenced by Hammer studios and their aforementioned Dracula films starring Lee, I find them preferable to almost all of Hammer's vampire flicks.

Robert Quarry's Count Yorga is neither otherworldy like Lugosi nor dour and curt like Lee. He is a socially confident gentleman with a quick and biting wit, calm demeanor, hypnotic skills both classical and supernatural, and a genuine love of the ladies. ... Read More
