Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
If Nirvana's Nevermind heralded alternative's ascendancy into the mainstream, Creed's mega-successful 1997 debut showed just how quickly--and craftily--alt.rock's musical hallmarks could be utterly co-opted by it. Fueled by vocalist Scott Stapp's Weiland-inspired growl, Creed rode the Seattle pop-suffused string of hits included here to become one of the 90's most successful rock acts--if one whose level of critical revile nearly matched its multi-million sales. This CD/DVD combo features 13 of the band's signature performances (including all eight of its number one singles), songs that often turn on a Christianity-inspired message that could be as opaque (the anthemic 'Higher') as it was overt ('My Own Prison,' 'What's This Life For'). The accompanying DVD completes the career retrospective, anthologizing nine of the band's videos along with previously unreleased live performances of 'Torn,' 'Higher' and 'Weathered.' --Jerry McCulley

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Why compare? Either you like them or you don't.
I've always liked Creed. I have the first 3 albums. What intrigued me more than the positive reviews were some of the negative reviews. I don't know the age of any of these detractors so I checked some wish lists to see what they DO like. Some people just like to slam everything. It should just be a matter of preference. I really don't get what anyone could have against Creed though.

As to the "preaching":
There's some really bizarre music out there - which makes sense since there are bizarre people out there. Takes all types to make the world go around. I don't have a problem with that. I understand that people who like the "edgy" stuff generally don't like mainstream. But that bizarre stuff preaches its own values. You preach violence, hatred, racism or reverse racism, sexism or reverse sexism, occult practices, and satanism, guess what, you're still preaching. You don't like Creed preaching ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Worst Band Ever Times Infinity
Giving Creed a Greatest Hits album is like giving Adolf Hitler a Humanitarian award. This band is the antithesis of all that is great.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Scott Stapp rocks
Scott Stapp is assuredly one of the greatest frontmen in the history of music. Say what you will about Creed: that they are glorified "radio rock", that their songs are all the same, or that it's simply christian rock with fewer references to Jesus and more lead guitar. But the influence of Creed is undeniable, as is the quality of this CD. Highly reccommended for any Creed fan.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - 2 for the music, 3 for the correct choices
My question is this- why?

Why bother buying this Creed album when you can just buy a couple of their regular albums? Even though those albums aren't really anything to write home about either- since after all, Creed was VERY similar to Pearl Jam, and choosing either of the two bands isn't a bad idea either. Just pick which band you like more, and go with that one.

I really never liked "Higher" but it's a hit song so it makes sense that it's featured here. The other songs are all alright as well, but again, Creed or Pearl Jam? Which one do you like more?
