Rating: - Powerful Wi-fi Antenna
This antenna works great. Hookup was easy and it gave me full-house range that I didn't have before. Well, it probably gives the rest of the neighborhood better access, too, but that's another story!
Rating: - Best antenna I have found
I tried a LOT of portable antennas - the commercial Cantenna, at least three different flat patch antennas, omni-directional antennas beyound counting - antennas from Asus, D-Link, Linksys, Edimax, Pacific Wireless but none of them came close.
I mainly use it with my laptop, with a high gain Engenius USB wireless adapter (Engenius EUB-362 EXT), but I have used it with other wireless adapters I have too, with the same great results. I can get a working signal with this when none of the other antennae work well (or at all). 90 degree horizontal and vertical coverage.
My only complaint is the cable is a bit thin, and I put some duct tape on the antenna to support the cable where it enters the antenna, as I was concerned to flexing here over time might cause the cable to break but it looks like it would be easy to replace if that happen - should get less cable less with a thicker cable ... Rating: - Helps increase signal strength
I purchased this antenna to increase the signal strength to my repeater on the other side of the house. It gave an increase of about 2 bars on my signal strength meter but more importantly, it increased the reliability of the connection to my wife's computer and my WiFi radio. It is well worth the price.
Rating: - Minimal improvement
I compared this unit to a +7db dipole antenna which cost one fourth as much, and the dipole pulled in twice as many access points with a much stronger signal. The Hawking is supposed to be a 15db unit, but it did little better than the +2dB stock antenna on the Alfa network adaptor, even when pointed directly at the access point.
