Editorial Review:

Description:
Britta, the new kid at Highland High, has reason to rejoice this Christmas: her sadness has summond Holly Boy, the very spirit of the season, awakening him from the stony sleep imposed by the dark elf, King Otto. This sets in motion an earthly as well as unearthly fight which rages simultaneously: Young Britta must face her fears and perform a death-defying aerial act in the school's Christmas Pageant, while Holly Boy battles the forces of evil, both battles fought in order to save the school and the Holly Woods. In the end, it's not just a fight for a scholarship award or the woods by the school, it's a fight for Christmas and all the Good Will and Glat Tidings that the season stands for.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - 2 stars for the comic aspect
I rented this for my kids and I don't think they enjoyed it. I laughed hysterically over the bad acting and the huge, hairy boar. I still laugh thinking about it (if you've seen it, you know what I am talking about:)). So, I give it 2 stars, because it made me laugh but I don't think that I will ever, ever waste money on it again.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - I can't understand anything over one star!
As the owner of approximately 150 Christmas movies, I only have one that is worse than this one! The plot was stupid, the acting was terrible; my one star is for Danielle Nicolet's character's acrobatics - don't know if it was really her or a stunt double, but it's pretty awesome.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - NOT related to the Conrad Richter novel
I teach eighth grade English. The Conrad Richter novel, The Light in the Forest, is a part of our eighth grade curriculum. I purchased this video on the assumption that it was an adaptation of that novel which is about a Caucasian boy who has been raised by Native Americans, and the story of his struggle to fit into the culture of his natural parents. Unfortunately, I did not look beyond the cover which pictures a boy who looks like he is dressed in the manner of a 1700's backwoodsman.

It would be helpful, since the title is identical to the Conrad Richter classic, if Amazon would make some prominent notation that this video is not in any way related to that novel.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Movie to Treasure
I watched this movie and I wasn't sure what to expect. I kind of figured it might be a little campy - I wasn't sure if I'd like it. I watched it and I had a huge grin on my face for three days afterwards.

There is something so heartwarming about this movie and so - apart - from what the world is today. Yes, there is some campiness in it - but it is really a joyous movie, with dashing heroes, magic, bad guys - and NO rated-R blood and gore! HOW often do you see something like that?

The cast's performance - especially Christopher Khayman Lee - in this movie makes me smile out loud and maybe not find this world such a depressing, aggravating, selfish and angry place after all.

Bah Humbug go bye-bye, baby!
