Amazon.com:
Sure, Gorillaz sounded original, but it was a pop project with all the constraints that went with it--can you imagine the six-minute remixed version of 'Clint Eastwood' making it onto MTV? But that's exactly what makes Laika Come Home so good. It's a reimagined collection filled with bone-shaking dubscapes and enough reverb to transmit a message to the farthest edges of the universe. Listen to the 'De-Punked' version of 'Punk' with its meandering, decayed trumpet and computerized tweaks--hardly recognizable as the original--or the swinging old-school ska that crops ups on '5/4.' The two-tone skank of 'M1/A1' (with Terry Hall) sounds as if it should have been the original version, but the real killer tracks are those injected with dancehall vibes by DJ U Brown and Earl 16. Who says 'you don't get paid for doing what you love?'--not Damon Albarn. --Caroline Butler

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Blur meets Mad Professor
I slept on this album when it came out. MY BAD! This a dub version of the gorillaz first masterpiece. I'm a trueschool dub, hip-hop, electronica head. When the gorillaz hooked up with the Automator it was a dream come true. Making a dub remix album was the only thing that could possibly top it and they did it. Any fans of Dr. Octagon, Blur, or Mad Professor will love this album.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Wow.
Okay, I don't have the album, but I listened to the previews or samples or whatever you wanna call them, and I couldn't even reconize some of them! The guitar on "Come Again" told me "Oh, this is 5/4" but instead of the spiky electric guitar, it reminded me the acoustic guitar on Feel Good Inc! It's amazing how you can take a bunch of tracks like "Punk", "Man Research", and "5/4" and create something softer, more laid-back. This is kind of a "California Beach" record (or at least that's what I think). I really like it, but once again, I don't own it, so I can't say for sure. It still makes a good impression on me.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - New Music Revolution
Everytime i hear a gorillaz song that i have not heard before i am more than impressed and surprised at the creativity they have with their music. The gorillaz never fail to trip me out.... i think gorillaz and spacemonkeyz can start a whole new type of music that might once take over the teenage population just as rock and hip hop once did, i would bet anyone money this becomes the next teenage generations kind of music

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This is a masterpiece
The progression of my purchase: this album, then gorillaz 1 & 2. Yeah gorillaz know how to kick it, but this album? I go through life with a soundtrack, and this cd isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. Cmon, lets face it y'all, there is more to reggae than we think. This is just a step in a new and right direction. Mixing the low bass and mystical fog feel of dub with the feel good sound of reggae, and a splash of dance, this is it. There's nothing better than a 20 minute instrumental, with smooth tunage and sounds out of nowhere to mezmerize the soul.

If you dig this, you should pick up the Dead 60's dub/extended version of their only album. Plus, Reggae From Finland, out last year. Soul Captain Band, and a plethora of dub djs (plus hot smart women) make Finland worth visiting..

So yeah, buy this. And Spacemonkeyz? PLease make more of this!
