Editorial Review:

Description:
This is it! Your front row ticket to the 25th Anniversary Homecoming Concert by one of world's greatest rock-n-roll bands; Cheap Trick. For those of you fortunate enough to attend this historic event, this is your chance to relive that special night, and for those unable to be there, we offer our condolences and the next best thing - Silver, the DVD. Enjoy the entire 2 hour and 10 minute concert, from Davis Park in Rockford, Illinois. Silver features a song from every record, members of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, the Harlem High School Choir, the Phantom Regiment Drum Corp, Nielsen and Zander children, Jon Brant, Slash, Billy Corgan, Art Alexakis and many more. Silver is the definitive Cheap Trick experience!
Songs: Ain't That a Shame, I Want You to Want Me, Oh Candy, That 70's Song, Voices, If You Want My Love, She's Tight, Can't Stop Fallin' Into Love, Gonna Raise Hell, I Can't Take It, Take Me to the Top, It All Comes Back to You, Tonight It's You, Time Will Let You Know, World's Greatest Lover, The Flame, Stop This Game, Dream Police, I Know What I Want, Woke Up With a Monster, Never Had a Lot to Lose, You're All Talk, I'm Losin' You, Hard to Tell, Oh Claire, Surrender, Just Got Back, Day Tripper, Who D'King.

Amazon.com:
Filmed in the late summer of 1999, Cheap Trick: Silver is a 25th anniversary celebration of the Rockford, Illinois, band famous for marrying British Invasion-era pop hooks with the guitar crunch of the Who's Quadrophenia period. Shot on a sealed-off, Rockford street, the concert is an electrifying overview of high points from the group's discography. The songs plucked from each of their albums reveal a remarkable power-pop consistency over the long haul, despite the band's lengthy periods of commercial rejection and bare survival. Visibly thrilled, Cheap Trick soar here through monster hits ('I Want You to Want Me,' 'Dream Police') and milk every drop of emotion from masterful ballads ('I Can't Take It'). While stellar guests include Slash and Billy Corgan, it's the appearances by less famous folk (the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, a few offspring of guitarist Rick Nielsen and singer Robin Zander) that movingly underscore the populist glories of this American band. --Tom Keogh

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Disappointed - but still like the band all the same
Sorry to those who loved this DVD - guess it did nothing for me.
To put it in context - I saw them live in 1979 (was centre of row 5 from the stage too) shortly after the worldwide release of "Live At Budokhan". So that concert is forever burned into my brain and so I guess seeing this DVD ruined that memory of just how good they can be.
Guess I was expecting an "At Budokhan" like performance (and song list) with modern sound (DTS and the like), but got neither.
Look if you want a collection of all the songs CT have done over the last 30 years this is pretty good (and if you view it in that context maybe I'd give it 3 stars). But if you want to see them like they were in their heyday doing stuff from their first 4 albums - you'll be disappointed.
I still like cheap trick alot (I share a birthday with Robin Zander so there's nothing wrong with that) - but they don't recyle as well 30 years ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Why are they not in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame? Cheap Trick Rules!
Rock n Roll Hall of Fame will not be legitimate until Cheap Trick is elected. This DVD is proof they are America's greatest living Rock n Roll Band.

Robin Zander is america's premiere Rock N Roll singer, second to none. Rick Nielsen is an awesome songwriter who has penned dozens of hits that are highlighted here. Plus Nielsen's guitar chops and axewielding are still going strong. Tom Peterson the inventor of the 12-string Bass keeps the hooks coming like a second lead guitar player and maintains the backbeat with Bun E. Carlos.

These guys are putting on a Rock N Roll clinic for the ages here and it is a shame they are not more truly appreciated.

My only gripe with the DVD is that one of the main cameras is overexposed and the camera work is really that of a B-Crew. That is the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 ... as Cheap Tricks performance is fantastic!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Loved it!!
I got the DVD for my birthday and absolutely loved it. I've been a fan since the beginning and this DVD has put a goofy grin on my face. I highly recommend it for any Cheap Trick fan.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Looking for a review?: BUY IT!
Whats not to like about CT? I own this DVD and the audio double cd. Thats it-believe me, thats all you'll need. What really makes it worth it is the "commentary". A fabulous and totally hillarious walk thru of all the songs on the DVD. I can think of no other band that has the ability to laugh at themselves like these guys do. That humor along with superior musicianship makes them as well as this DVD a must have!
