Description:
In the hands of Disney's extraordinary animators, Lewis Carroll's immortal literary classic comes to life like never before! The surprises begin when a daydreaming Alice encounters a White Rabbit who is frantically running late. She chases him and falls into the magical, madcap world of Wonderland with its kaleidoscope of off-the-wall characters -- including Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Cheshire Cat, and the manic Mad Hatter, who invites her to a memorable tea party! The crowning confrontation begins when Alice meets the notorious Queen of Hearts and her enchanted deck of playing cards. Tricked into a curious game of croquet, Alice, and her patience, end up on trial. Is there no escape from this whimsical escapade? Filled with fantasy and topsy-turvy fun, ALICE IN WONDERLAND is teeming with spectacular songs and astounding animation in the highest Disney tradition!

Amazon.com:
Imaginatively rendered but slightly chilly, this 1951 Disney adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic is also appropriately surreal. Alice (voiced by Kathryn Beaumont) has all the anticipated experiences: shrinking and growing, meeting the White Rabbit, having tea with the Mad Hatter, etc. Characterization is very strong, and the Disney team worked hard to bring screen personality to Carroll's eccentric creations. For a Disney film, however, it seems more the self-satisfied sum of its inventiveness than a truly engaging experience. --Tom Keogh

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Walt Disney's Wonderland
Early on in Walt Disney's career, he had wanted to tell the story of Alice in Wonderland. As early as 1923 he had begun a series of short films, which featured a young girl in the role of Alice and integrated her live-action performance with animation. So it's no surprise that he wished to make a full-length film based upon Lewis Carroll's classic stories. What is a surprise is that, in 1951 when the film was finally released, Walt Disney was extremely disappointed. He felt that the film lacked an emotional center and that the characters were weak and unmemorable. Perhaps his discontentment was caused by his high expectations or maybe Walt simply didn't understand that the film was a masterpiece, but whatever the reason for his disliking the film, it has gone on to become a classic (of all of the films made while Walt Disney was alive this, Fantasia, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and 101 Dalmatians are my favorites). ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Bizarre, but a classic.
Alice in Wonderland is renowned for it's odd and satirical nature, while still appealing to kids who are highly entertained by the disappearing Cheshire cat, the wackiness of the Mad Hatter, and the wrath of the Queen of Hearts. The songs are cute and Disney-esque, and Alice's adventures inspire all of the many imaginative people out in the world.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Disney Magic
This is one of the many Disney Classics that won our harts and loyalty to the Disney name. No collection is complete without this movie that is good wholesome fun for the whole family.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Kid All Over Again
I was so happy to find this film on DVD! I always loved Alice in Wonderland as a kid, but now it is even better.

The quality of the DVD is amazing (although I would expect nothing less from Disney). The colors are so crisp and bright. The sound seems to even be a better quality, too.

But the story is still the same masterpiece I fell in love with as a child.

And the little extras contained on the second disc are perfect! "Thru the looking glass" has to be one of the most memorable Mickey cartoons. Get your hands on a copy of this one and enjoy it!
