Editorial Review:

Description:
The only witnesses to a mob hit, Ryo and Robert were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Since then, they've been shot at, run off the road, and nearly blown to pieces--but now it's getting personal.

Amazon.com:
Ryo Sakazaki and Bob Garcia are a mismatched pair of friends; Bob is the heir to a fortune and dresses in white suits; Ryo wears ratty workout clothes and runs a karate dojo. Their friendship is based on a shared love for the martial arts, their devil-may-care attitudes, and Bob's affection for Ryo's sister, Yuri. While pursuing a lost cat, Ryo and Bob stumble onto a mob hit and get caught up in a high-stakes game of cops and robbers. Both the cops and the robbers think the rakish pair has found the stolen diamond, the fabulous Eye of Sirius. Mob boss Mr. Big--who looks like a bejeweled Jessie Ventura--kidnaps Yuri; manic police lieutenant Todo (a screaming incompetent) tries to arrest the pair. Bob and Ryo have to find the gem to save Yuri--and themselves. A predictable series of martial arts battles, car chases, helicopter attacks, and explosions ensues, with Bob and Ryo flashing thumbs up when they come out on top. The animated-by-the-numbers tone of Art of Fighting will appeal only to fans of the video game it's based on. Unrated; violence is unsuitable for all children. --Charles Solomon

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Absolutely no redeeming qualities at all. Almost the worst anime I have ever seen.
Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia witness a murder while trying to catch a stray cat. They are later blamed for stealing a diamond and in retaliation Ryo's sister Yuri is kidnapped. They have to come up with the diamond before Yuri is killed by gangster Mr. Big.

Video game to anime, especially fighting based. Has never been anything above average. Usually these type of movies will mostly appeal to fans of the franchise. Art of Fighting gives nothing to video game fans. Much less to anime fans who can care less about the video game. I avoided writing a review for this garbage for years. But I feel the need to alert my friends and let them know. Art of Fighting isn't even worth being used as a coaster. Yes people, Art of Fighting is that bad. It's actually worst than Tekken.

Everything about this anime is terrible. The action scenes are unimaginative. There are no special attacks used ever. The ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Buy the game not the movie.
Im a fan of the Art of Fighting game. When I heard there was movie out I purchased. I dont know why they even bothered to call this movie Art of Fighting. The movie had almost nothing to do with game or the story line. It lacked a real plot and most of the characters that defined the tone of the game. I dont recommend this movie unless you are into anything even remotely related to the Art of Fighting franchise or unless you need a decent door stop.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - So [bad], it's good!
Just about everyone I've seen have said that this anime was absolutely terrible. However, being a fan of Ryo and Robert, I ignored them and bought the anime anyway. And, I actually enjoyed it a lot! The animation is about the level of Speed Racer, and the fight scenes are pretty cheesy, but the anime has this strange goofy charm about it that I just can't help but like. Its lack of seriousness makes it a nice change of pace from most fighting game animes. If you want a great martial arts flick, this probably isn't for you. But, if you're looking for something that's just so cheesy and stupid that you can't help but like it, then this is the anime for you. I loved it.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - well, it features RYO SAKAZAKI and ROBERT GARCIA want more?
to tell the truth ART OF FIGHTING is a bit of a joke, loosely based on the amazing classic NEO GEO video game, by loosely i mean, when did RYOs main problem involve saving lost cats to gain a cash reward to pay his electricity bill? RYOs sister does get kidnapped, but she (YURI) is far from the destroying machine we know so well from ART OF FIGHTING 2 and KING OF FIGHTERS. As for ROBERT GARCIA, well he shows his usual foolish ways as he acts like the big man. As for the ending, wheres TAKUMA (ryo and yuris father) surely he was your opponent at the end of the video game? oh well, for die hard fans only, even if u are a die hard fan check out the FATAL FURY animes first, they are so much better!
