Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - who know
diane keaton has always been my favorite actress and in this movie she was just good. at first i thought the movie was going to be boring and it actually turned out to be a great movie.

the beginning of the movie wasn't all that good but the ending was just awesome.

since i have watched this movie i have been more interested in amelia earhart and charles linbergh.
great movie for all ages.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - I Wasn't Expecting Much - Nice Surprise
I must admit, I was very surprised that this movie came near to the quality T.V. film it was. Clearly, Keaton's Golden Globe nominated portrayal of Amelia Earhart made the difference here. The performance even struck me as spooky in how close this actress came to Amelia's mannerisms, speech patterns and appearance. I realized I was watching the work of a great actress.

I was also surprised this made for t.v. movie took on a controversial issue to suggest the U.S. government was helping Amelia on the flight primarily due to interests in obtaining information on the Japanese military bases on the islands in the Pacific. After much study from credible sources, there is actually some relevance it was partly a spy mission, because Amelia needed the government funding offered for the plane's repair after her first intial plane crash.

Sadly, I have come to the realization Amelia's plane was ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Keaton, as usual, turns in a brilliant performance
I acclaim Diane Keaton highly for her expectional work in this movie. Had she not been picked to act Amelia Earhart, the movie would have been a dud. The movie was not a great hit, but it was well-directed. I learned so much about the real aviatrix through this movie. Rutger Hauer was very good as a alcoholic navigator who goes with Earhart on the final flight. Both of them steal the floor. But it is Keaton who makes this movie worth watching. The final scene left me in tears- it was very poignant. The sky, the sun, and the subtle dialogue was blended very well. This movie is suggested for those who are interested in learning more about Earhart or just want to enjoy more of Keaton's expectional talent.
