The first time that I saw this video I was 21 years old. That was in 1989. I seriously cried. This video of Anita Baker was the most truest of all her videos. Not only did I enjoy hearing her live--but truth be told--this girl can really sing! I must have watched it over and over again until I just couldn't watch it-- and then some. Well, I lost the video after I relocated to New York in 1990. But ten years later, I found it again on Amazon.com. And still, everytime that I see it--I still cry. "Watch Your Step" is one of her most powerful performances. I still feel like I'm in church everytime that I hear this song. Anita just goes somewhere... faraway... in this song to a place that only she knows. It's great! I love her so much!

Anita Baker came on the scene with a bang. Very few artists can deliver such a outstanding live performance. In a time where the term Diva is applied to 18 year olds with very limited stage experience, this concert shows how it should be done. Minus all of the distractions like excessive dancers and explosions, performers of Anita Bakers caliber focus on true individual talent. I was fortunate to see her in a very small club and her show was stripped down to allow us to hear her remarkable voice. This was very early in her career, but it was clear that she would be a success.
